American Leadership Project in the Media

Media Coverage article

I will be posting some information on the media coverage being given to the ALP. Despite things having just begun for the new 527, there is quite a bit of buzz going around. It will be very interesting to see how the media and bloggers view the ALP and their efforts to help get Hillary Clinton the Democratic nomination. So, without further delay, here are some quotes:

(ABC News) ABC News has learned that a group of Democratic politicos have set up a new independent 527 organization called the American Leadership Project (ALP)…The plan right now is for the TV ads to never actually mention Obama — rather, the statements about rhetoric vs. reality will go after him through implication…

(more ABC News) Ben Smith of the Politico first posted this ad, which talks about how speeches won’t help the economy, Clinton is great on the economy, call her and tell her to keep fighting for the middle class, yada yada yada, breathlessly long disclaimer. The group right now is aiming to raise the $2 million and change needed to advertise statewide on Ohio TV in a week.

(DailyKos) Let’s be clear: when a 527 forms for the express purpose of electing or defeating a particular federal candidate, and engages in public advocacy towards such ends — as opposed to discussing issues — it is breaking the law. Period.

This whole situation is SO absurd. Your post strikes as serious for you only. What can we do but make jokes about it?

Comparing to what I’ve read about this before, it sounds absolutely impressing. I’m an old internet user, and have read a lot about this kind of stuff, but what I read here today is absolutely different.
