Obama Supporters Trying to Silence Clinton Supporters

Media Coverage article

There is already a movement being made to eliminate the American Leadership Projects efforts. There are currently three of Barack Obama’s supporters working a complaint to the Federal Election Commission, charging that the pro-Clinton organization is violating election laws.

(Wall St Journal) Subodh Chandra, an Obama backer who drafted the complaint, says the new organization was established to allow “fat cat Clinton donors” to “cheat the system” by paying for their own advertisements for Mrs. Clinton even though they had already donated the maximum $2,300 allowed by law to her campaign. Mr. Chandra wrote the complaint on behalf of three other low-dollar contributors to Mr. Obama’s campaign.

In the FEC complaint, the Obama backers don’t cite any firm evidence of the Clinton group running afoul of either condition. The one television advertisement released to the media by the pro-Clinton group doesn’t mention Mr. Obama’s name or call on people to vote for Mrs. Clinton. Instead, it tells voters to “tell Hillary to keep working on those solutions for the middle class.”

On the fundraising side, the complaint charges that it would be impossible for the pro-Clinton group to raise money for the television advertisements if they didn’t tell donors that the goal is to help Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign. “It defies credulity to deny that the Project has assured its donors that their funds would be used to help Senator Clinton’s presidential-election campaign,” the complaint says.

Any person and/or group can set up 527 organizations and spend what they need to spend to provide information to voters as long as they meet two general conditions: They can’t run advertisements directly calling for the election/defeat of any given candidate and they can’t solicit large donations by saying that the purpose of the organization is to elect or defeat a specific candidate.

The complaint is calling on the Federal Election Commission to open an investigation and promptly shut down the organization and is seeking fines against its directors and donors. The complaint probably by used by Obama against Clinton in the primaries in Texas and Ohio.

I am sure the 527 set up by the Bush Mafia were “Legal” under the same definition, Ha! Obviously a Obama supporter bending the rules, like Bush. I want to support the first woman who really has a chance. I hope we can reach all women to call on them to support her. When will we ever get a chance to get over this again? We have waited too long. I want to support her because she had the gumption to propose National Health Care when she was the First Lady. The visicous attack that followed was predictable and embarassing for me. As a health care worker, we see the results of poor health care and for profit medicine. Many are in the ground that should still be walking, but they were not rich enough to live any longer, unfortunately. If the rich didn’t get so many handouts…Even the Vets are shortchanged in this administration. How many would be alive if we had of implemented back then. More blood on the republicans hands, as usual.

I don’t say any of this as a Obama supporter.

I just happened onto your site. It is bad. It is not about issues. It is about character smears. I see on your site that you have an add for “A Free special report on the real Barack Obama” from the conservative rag, HumanEvents.com.

Whoever you folks are, you don’t care about the public good. Maybe you ought to go home and think about yourselves.
